MMS scandal: APSCW constitutes
enquiry committee
ITANAGAR, Mar 26: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has constituted its own enquiry committee to investigate into the MMS scandal that depicts a minor boy and a girl being forced to commit sexual act in a police station, particularly in context of the atrocity meted out to the girl, informed the Commission in a release.
While condemning the atrocity, the Commission further said that it has sent written request to the DGP for immediate departmental enquiry and called upon the authorities for ensuring protection of the victims and their families.

Job issue of police widow: The APSCW said that it had received a representation of the women widow under the banner of All Arunachal Pradesh Widows Union, who raised their demand for cancellation of the recently conducted interview for appointment of women police under compassionate ground.
Responding to the plea from the Union for appointment of all job aspirants on compassionate ground, the Commission has taken up the matter with appointing authority for being informed whether the Govt can be approached for consideration of their appointment, it said.
Earth Hour observed at Raj Bhavan
ITANAGAR, Mar 26: Governor Gen JJ Singh and State First Lady Anupama Singh along with Raj Bhavan officials observed ‘Earth Hour’ to its true spirit at Raj Bhavan here.
Other than few security lamps in the periphery of the compound, lights were switched off from 8.30 pm for an hour.
The first couple, who always have been advocating for minimum use of energy and proper use of other natural resources, impressed upon Raj Bhavan officials and others towards promotion and practice of conservation of energy to reduce impact on the environment and on the planet.
Earth Hour, which is considered as a biggest annual participatory event organized by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is held annually on the last Saturday of March. ITANAGAR, Mar 26: While being apologetic over the use of the word `mafia', Kahfa Bengia, chairman of Save Arunachal Forum (SAF) stood his ground saying that ‘the merciless deforestation of our forest resources during the former chief minister Gegong Apang’s regime in the form of unaccounted issue of timber permits which eventually led to the blanket ban on timber operation in the state by an order of the Supreme Court causing irreparable damage and loss to the state exchequer still remains an existing truth in the political history of Arunachal Pradesh.”
In a release he also added that sudden ban on timber operation aggravated the unemployment problem in Arunachal particularly in Tirap and Changlang districts, the fall out of which are the growing underground outfits in these districts.
Further Kahfa said that Dorjee Khandu's regime must also equally share the blame of misgovernance and mismanagement for the reckless mortgaging of almost all the river basins of the state to the private power developers without the prior and informed consent of the traditional landowners and without the approval of state cabinet. Dorjee Khandu has not even spared the underground resources of the state like coal and oil in Tirap and Changlang Districts, he said. He urged young generation of the state to find for themselves the modus operandi of the naked plunder of our state resources by the political elites of the present regime in connivance with outside corporate bodies. The concept of sustainable development has been completely overlooked and the future generation of the state is in serious jeopardy, added Save Arunachal Forum Chairman.

Goutom Bhagawati delivered his lecture on “Insect Pest Management in Agricultural and Horticultural Crops in West Siang” and “Importance of Apiculture as a Commercial Venture”. Resource persons also responded to various questions raised by the farmers, ADOs and AFAs during the programme. The resource persons also stressed the farmers to focus on cultivation and management of the crops in organic way.

ANSU seeks amicable solution to indoor stadium impasse
ITANAGAR, Mar 26: Reacting to the raging controversy over construction of indoor stadium at Sagalee, All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) called for urgent solution to the issue. ANSU General Secretary Arjun Panye in a press release said infrastructure development is welcomed but not at the cost of students welfare.
“We welcome construction of indoor stadium inside Sagalee government higher secondary complex but with condition that stadium is meant only for student communities,” said ANSU GS Arjun Panye. He further added, “When auditorium was constructed inside the premises of Doimukh government secondary school years ago, it was promised that it will be only for student communities. But now hardly students get chance to use that auditorium. We don’t want similar thing to happen at Sagalee.”
ANSU sought amicable solution to the problem at the earliest so that interest of students is not harmed. “Authorities need to listen to the grievances put forward by APPDSU. There should not be any communication gap between student body and authorities.”

Going in for the same venture or trade will do no good and technically it would lead to stagnation, he said. The weavers need to regularly get in touch with the concerned officers and the department and to keep themselves updated on the various schemes and welfare measures meant for them, he added. Visiting all the stalls, DC interacted with the weavers and artisans in order to know their problems and other ground realities.
Earlier, ADTH Dorjee Phuntso in his address, highlighted on the various welfare schemes and policies for the weavers under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Impressing upon the weavers the need for maintaining quality and reasonable pricing of the products, he said that these are quite imperative if the products are to be marketed outside.
In all, 09 stalls of handloom products from Itanagar, Doimukh and the district were put up for sale and exhibition. Sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, GOI, this exhibition aims at providing the local weavers, NGOs and entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their products and provide the much needed platform for marketing their products. Relief sought for cyclone affected families
ITANAGAR, Mar 26: Cyclonic storm, which lashed parts of the state recently, destroyed 11 more houses at Hill Top Colony, ESS sector totaling the number of houses damaged in the cyclone up to 21, informed Hill Top Colony Welfare Committee.
It said that rooftops of almost all the 21 houses were blown away, household items, including utensils damaged, in the cyclonic storm which created havoc for at least 17 hours. The colony welfare committee appealed to the State government to provide immediate relief to the affected families for their quick rehabilitation.

Besides the two Master Trainers Pura Gyati Uma from Ziro and Subu Anga from Itanagar, resource persons and experts from various organizations like KVIC, KVIB, DIC, NYP impart training on various aspects of entrepreneurship development.
Addressing the valedictory function at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Itanagar Branch Office, Prakash Kumar Behra, Deputy Director, KVIC, Itanagar encouraged the trainees to take the benefit under the Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in order to start their own venture.

ITANAGAR, Mar 26: The Dibang Adi Students Union (DASU) has appealed to the state home minister to visit Lower Dibang Valley to trace out the truth behind the present standoff between two warring communities.
